THE BOOK

Full Leather
Half Binding
This is the first of the wooden board books in the edition. The white leather is alum-tawed goatskin. Tawed, not tanned, it is the most long-lived type of bookbinding leather - books bound in alum-tawed skin in the 16th century still open beautifully today.

For this book I only did two colors for the edge decoration, though the end-papers have the full range of color. I wanted to keep it simple as the wood and alum-tawed gives the book such clean lines. The endbands are tied in red and black. This is one sharp book! Because of the extra work preparing the wood, the wooden board bindings are the same price as the full leather bindings.
