The Mollusks Poster is the last in a suite of three posters designed to promote the Pictorial Webster’s; an artist’s book of all that was in America of the 19th Century – engraved and alphabetized. Because 19th Century America derived so much wealth from and had such a familiarity with the sea, it is not surprising that there is a preponderance of sea-related images in the dictionaries. Drawing from this richness, the three posters Quercus Press printed are the Fishes poster released in 2000, the Ships poster created in 2001, and the current Mollusks poster. As in the Pictorial Webster’s, author, artist, and printer, John Carrera has inserted one of his own engravings into the Mollusks poster. (And, no, Hermit Cabs are definitely not Mollusks!)

The uncolored version is $50, and the hand colored is $500. Reproduction copies of the hand colored are also available for $250.
